Cats and Dogs
I turned on the TV one morning last week and a commercial was on showing a cat frolicking through a meadow. I think it was a commercial for cat food, or kitty litter, or something. Anyway, Brady looks at the TV and says "Dog." I say, "No, that' s a cat." Brady walks over to the TV, puts his finger on the cat on the screen, turns to look at me and says, "Dog." I stand corrected.
His pediatrician says she thinks he will be opinionated. I think she's right.

Big Ouchie
Brady had his first visit to the ER yesterday. Two hours and six stitches later and he was good to go. Brady tripped while walking at daycare and whacked his head on the edge of a table on the way down. I took him to the same hospital that he was born in which has a new pediatric section to their ER complete with fish tanks, toys in the exam rooms, and really good doctors and nurses. Brady had a good time except for when they had to restrain him by strapping him onto a board to put the stitches in. The doctor, who by the way has children of her own, sat down with me before we left to review the instructions for Brady's care.
Doctor: You'll need to keep his head dry for the next 5 days, no swimming, sweating, etc.
Me: No problem.
Doctor: Don't let him pick at the bandage.
Me: Hmmm. That might be a little harder.
Doctor (as she hands me the leftover gauze and tape): Keep him from bumping his head for the next 5 days.
Me (in my head): You're kidding, right? Got any bubble wrap you can send with us too?
In all seriousness, the doctor was really great, and we're trying very hard to keep Brady from bumping his head, which we are 100% successful at when he's sleeping.

Mmmm, chicken
About a week ago, we picked up KFC for lunch on the way home from church, afterwhich, the scraps were placed in the trashcan. Until this point, I still had the kitchen trash can out as Brady had never shown any real interest in it. A few hours after lunch, Brady comes walking toward me, chewing on something and saying "mmmm" which is his word for "man this is tasty." He then swallowed whatever it was he was chewing on and went back into the kitchen. I followed him and before I could get to him, I saw him reach into the trashcan, pull out a piece of KFC secret recipe chicken skin about the size of his hand and shove it all in his mouth. "Mmmm," he says. He was very unhappy when I took it away and as equally unhappy when I locked the trashcan and the remainder of his afternoon "snack" securely under the sink.
