One day at a park we saw a crane, the bird, not the construction equipment. We watch it and I tell Brady its name. Later in the car the following conversation ensues:
Brady: Mom, what's a crane?
Me: It's a big bird.
Brady: It's Big Bird? I didn't see Big Bird. Where was Big Bird?
Me: No, not Big Bird. A crane is a bird that is big and gray like the one we saw at the park.
Brady: What's it's name?
Me: A crane.
Brady: What's a crane?
Me (inside my head): Aaarrggghh.
I think it was at this point that I changed the subject.

Conversations with the Back Seat - Part 1
Brady: Mom, Luke's falling asleep.
Me: He is?
Brady: Yeah, his eyes are flashing.
Guess that's a good of a way as any to describe a baby's fluttering eyelids as they fall asleep.
